Add a sweet twist to your usual kheer with the extremely healthy millets.
Ingredients:
- Millet (Little millet/Barnyard millet/Kodo millet) – 1 cup
- Moong Dal (Split) – ¼ cup
- Ghee -as preferred
- Organic Sugar – as per sweetness level
- Cardamom – 3-4 powdered
- Dry fruits (of your choice) – quantity as required
Preparation
- In cooker, add 1 tbsp of ghee and roast moong dal till it gives out nice aroma. Add nicely washed (atleast 3 times) millets to it and pressure cook both for 2-3 whistles. Once the pressure has released, open the cooker, and stir to make a mushy millet-dal mixture
- Add sugar, cardamom. Keep on medium heat and keep stirring until they are combined well
- Meanwhile, ghee roasts the dry fruits and add to the mixture and stir. Once done turn off the heat
Note:
- If the millet-dal mixture becomes thick, then add 1-2 tbsp of ghee which loosens as well as adds to their taste
