Millet Kheer

Add a sweet twist to your usual kheer with the extremely healthy millets.

Ingredients:

  1. Millet (Little millet/Barnyard millet/Kodo millet) – 1 cup
  2. Moong Dal (Split) – ¼ cup
  3. Ghee -as preferred
  4. Organic Sugar – as per sweetness level
  5. Cardamom – 3-4 powdered
  6. Dry fruits (of your choice) – quantity as required

Preparation

  1. In cooker, add 1 tbsp of ghee and roast moong dal till it gives out nice aroma. Add nicely washed (atleast 3 times) millets to it and pressure cook both for 2-3 whistles. Once the pressure has released, open the cooker, and stir to make a mushy millet-dal mixture
  2. Add sugar, cardamom. Keep on medium heat and keep stirring until they are combined well
  3. Meanwhile, ghee roasts the dry fruits and add to the mixture and stir. Once done turn off the heat

Note:

  • If the millet-dal mixture becomes thick, then add 1-2 tbsp of ghee which loosens as well as adds to their taste
